Horizontal Lifeline

Horizontal Lifeline

Horizontal Lifeline

A horizontal lifeline is a safety system designed to protect workers from falls while they are working at height.

It’s essentially a cable or rail that is securely attached to two or more anchor points on a structure, such as a rooftop, crane, or bridge. This creates a continuous line of protection along which workers can move safely while connected to the lifeline with a personal fall arrest system.

How it Works
Anchoring: The lifeline must firmly secure to anchor points on the structure.

Connection: Workers wear a harness and connect themselves to the lifeline using a lanyard or retractable lifeline.
Movement: As workers move along the lifeline, their connection to it prevents them from falling over the edge.
Fall Arrest: In case of a fall, the lifeline and harness system work together to arrest the fall and prevent serious injury.

Key Benefits of Horizontal Lifeline

Continuous protection: Workers are protected throughout their movement along the lifeline.
Flexibility: Allows for movement within a defined work area.
Efficiency: Improves productivity by eliminating the need to constantly reposition anchor points.
Important Considerations
Proper installation: The lifeline system must instal by a qualified professional.
Regular inspection: The system should inspect regularly for damage or wear.
Worker training: Workers must get proper training of using the system.
Compliance: The system must comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.
